KCCT was selected by nationally ranked law firm Adams & Reese to renovate and expand their Washington, DC office. The project balances the firm’s southern heritage with modern flexibility, creating a workspace that accommodates growth while enhancing collaborative and event spaces. A key design goal was integrating areas for large client meetings without disrupting daily office operations, all within a compact building footprint.
KCCT’s interiors studio introduced an operable glass wall connecting the conference room, lounge, breakout area, and coffee bar. This innovative feature, paired with modular furniture, allows spaces to expand for larger gatherings or remain separated for focused work. Natural light floods offices, conference rooms, and breakout spaces via floor-to-ceiling windows and glass partitions, creating a bright, open environment while maintaining quiet zones for staff and visiting attorneys.
The renovation upgraded all existing finishes and carefully coordinated construction sequencing, including night and weekend work, to minimize disruption to ongoing firm operations. Thoughtful design and strategic cost management—including pricing reviews and design modifications—ensured the project was delivered under budget without compromising design intent.
The design evokes a coastal-inspired aesthetic, reflecting the firm’s southern roots and brand identity. Neutral carpeting reminiscent of sandy beaches complements dark gray solid surfaces, which contrast with lighter millwork and flooring to create a sophisticated, durable environment suitable for high-traffic areas.
The operable glass wall provides adaptable space for collaboration, client events, and large meetings while maintaining a clear separation between social and work areas. The expansion includes additional offices and event-ready areas, seamlessly integrating function and form for both everyday use and special occasions.
This renovation creates a balanced, versatile environment that supports the firm’s mission to host clients, charity events, and advocacy gatherings, while reflecting Adams & Reese’s heritage and modern identity. KCCT’s design delivers a workspace that is efficient, aesthetically cohesive, and prepared for future growth.
