Community is the center of everything we do.
It can be found in the ways we nurture our people, how we engage with our peers, and how we use design to give back. Our culture begins with the individual, expands through the shared practice of design, and reaches outward into the broader world we serve.

The Individual
Every KCCT story starts with a person—an architect, designer, or professional driven by curiosity and purpose. We believe that investing in our people is the foundation of lasting impact. Through mentorship, continuing education, and opportunities for leadership, we empower each team member to refine their craft, explore new ideas, and find their voice.
Community Individual
Growth at KCCT extends beyond technical skill. We take genuine interest in what inspires our people—whether that be art, travel, cycling, or community engagement — because we know these passions often lead back to design. The creativity sparked on a weekend ride or a gallery visit enriches how we see, think, and build. By supporting the full spectrum of our team’s interests, we strengthen both the individual and the collective imagination of the firm.

We are not afraid to give our people platforms where their talents can shine. From presenting at industry conferences to leading project discussions and mentoring younger colleagues, KCCT encourages visibility and voice. We believe that growth happens when people are trusted to represent the firm, take initiative, and share their perspectives with confidence.

At KCCT, professional development is more than a program. It's a culture of curiosity, confidence, and continuous learning that begins with the individual and radiates outward through everything we do.

The Profession
Design thrives in the exchange of ideas, perspectives, and experiences that challenge us to see the built environment differently. KCCT’s commitment to thought leadership and collaboration extends beyond project delivery to active participation in the wider architectural dialogue. We embrace this dialogue, contributing our voice to multidisciplinary panels, publications, design competitions, and forums that shape the architecture profession.

Beyond the Studio
KCCT’s sense of community extends far beyond the drawing board. We use our skills and creativity to serve the places and people around us, because architecture, at its best, uplifts lives.

Each year, our team participates in initiatives that combine design thinking with service. Through the DCBIA Build Day, we help beautify public spaces in underserved neighborhoods. The annual themed Canstruction competition transforms canned goods into architectural installations that are later donated to local food banks. We volunteer with organizations that provide scholarships and mentorship to young people interested in careers in the AEC industry. We guide high school students in economically disadvantaged schools in Washington, DC through design workshops that open doors to new possibilities.

These efforts reflect who we are: designers who care deeply about the communities we inhabit, and who believe that creativity is most powerful when shared. We believe in the transformative power of design—the ability to improve lives, shape communities, and enact meaningful change on both micro and macro levels.
