Foreign Affairs Security Training Center

The Foreign Affairs Security Training Center (FASTC) brings together 19 previously separate training facilities into a single, state-of-the-art campus designed to support more than 10,000 students each year. The 1,350-acre site features 18 occupied buildings and 85 specialized training and support structures for both tactical and soft skills development.

KCCT was selected to lead the development of the Program of Requirements and design concepts for this transformative project. Through extensive site research and detailed interviews with training personnel, our team defined the mission-driven needs for more than forty distinct training venues. The facilities range from firearms and explosives ranges to tactical environments, high-performance driving courses, classrooms, a full-scale MOUT village, fitness centers, and an armory, among many others.

These comprehensive requirements were captured in a 1,000-page Program of Requirements that detailed personnel counts, functional adjacencies, infrastructure systems, IT and security provisions, LEED certification strategies, and guidelines for future expansion.

The plan carefully addressed circulation, adjacencies, security standoffs, and environmental preservation, creating a cohesive framework that reflects both operational needs and site-specific design considerations unique to Fort Pickett.
