KCCT took home two awards from the 2023 SARA National Design Awards Gala.

The US Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico has been awarded a National Design Award in the Government Category and a Best of Category designation from the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA).

The eight-building campus—which includes a new office building, housing, and parking—contrasts the traditional and modern elements of the Mexican architectural vocabulary for a timeless design anchored to the location and culture. The project was notable for innovation in resilient native landscaping, site and building integration, new strategies for consular operations, stormwater management, renewable power generation, and the use of horizontal and vertical blocking and stacking.

“We are excited that design and final construction of the project promotes the client’s mission for security and stewardship while creating a special place that responds to the newly developed suburban area of Nuevo Leon,” said KCCT Principal Stephen Vlach. “The design is rooted in an appreciation of the local culture and context while promoting state-of-the-art technology and expressing a look to the future.”
