U.S. Embassy

The new Port Moresby diplomatic campus lies within Harbour City, a new mixed-use development of diplomatic, commercial, and high-end residential uses on land reclaimed from the Coral Sea on a man-made peninsula. KCCT’s vision for the compound is a marine theme inspired by the coastal region of Papua New Guinea and its maritime culture. Two distinct zones - a representational front lawn and entry plaza; and a rear recreation area - support the complementary functions of diplomacy and community.

Six buildings occupy the campus including a 6,369 SM New Office Building, Service Building, Compound Access Pavilion Facilities, a Warehouse and Shops building, MSGR and recreational facilities. The compound is nearly self-sufficient pursuing LEED Gold certification for New Construction with on-site rainwater collection and treatment, as well as solar power generation. The design is largely a climate and place-driven solution defined by its civic quality and approach to sustainability and human comfort.
