US Embassy Campus

This major embassy campus rehabilitation presents a vision for new campus architecture and landscape that enhances the Embassy’s existing iconic architecture to meet current security standards and evolving diplomatic needs. The first phase of this project envisions a new chancery office building adjacent to Edward Durell Stone’s historic 1958 Embassy, recasts the chancery landscape as a multifunctional campus setting, and meets colocation requirements by relocating 200 at-risk desks from the off-compound American Center Building. The project also proposes phased demolition and construction of 10 new buildings, including the 20,500 m2 new office building, a 10,000 m2 new office and support annex, a Marine residence, 18 staff apartments, four compound access control buildings, a recreational facility, and a utility building. KCCT serves as associate architect in collaboration with Weiss/Manfredi.
