U.S. Embassy

This historic renovation of a facility considered one of the first purpose built US Embassies linked three existing buildings to improve the circulation for Chancery operations and provide accessibility. To improve access control to the Chancery, the design converted a connecting wing to a public access lobby that serves as secure, single point of entry. The central Ambassador's residence was converted to a Chancery. Its renovation also improved accessibility with the integration of an elevator without disturbing the historic fabric of the building. Additional buildings for controlled access areas, consular facilities, and a warehouse fulfilled new program requirements. Extensive sitework of the roadways, parking areas, new staff gardens and security upgrades to the perimeter fence unified and visually enhanced the grounds.
