U.S. Capitol Historical & Architectural Inventory

This essential study of the U.S. Capitol prioritized and defined the historically and architecturally significant extant features and spaces of the building, and identified, documented and provided treatment guidelines for their preservation.  Comprised of three volumes: Vol. I Capitol Exterior & Center Building; Vol. II Old Senate & Senate Wing; Vol III Old House & House Wing, the study identified four preservation zone classifications as defined by the Architect of the Capitol (AOC): 1) Restoration; 2) Rehabilitation Zone-1; 3) Rehabilitation Zone-2; 4) Renovation.  The report focused on the significant architectural features within the first three zones, as the most significant, and did not investigate Renovation zones.  Extensive photographic documentation accompany a detailed itemized inventory of significant features.
