Prague U.S. Embassy Renovation

Given the historic significance of the 16th Century Schoenborn Palace, the objective of the renovation sought to not disrupt the original elements of the Embassy. The renovation design rehabilitated emergency power systems that included not only the reconfiguration and replacement of existing equipment, but also the renovation of the outbuildings that house the systems. Concealed from public view in a courtyard, an elevator tower was designed as a structure independent of the original palace. The tile roofed, stucco-clad hoist-way mimics the Baroque style and accesses the upper levels of the palace with open ironwork bridges.
