Originally designed by prominent American architect Eero Saarinen in 1956, the nine-level Embassy is a recognizable landmark in Grosvenor Square. Primarily driven by the need for electrical improvements, the renovation of 85% of the building replaced electrical switchgear, primary metering, circuit breaker panels, interior lighting, and provided a new generator. While the renovation addressed energy efficiency, KCCT managed to retain Saarinen's original ornamental light fixtures by adding a reflector and compact fluorescent lamp to the original incandescent fixture.
