Department of State Briefing Room

After completely gutting the space, the team designed a new state-of-the-art communications facility. This space is the only press media briefing room in the world that provides affixed tables with fixed (but rotating) chairs for the press. The client requested that an environment be designed that helped promote an atmosphere that would be conducive to dialogue, consequently the acoustical design emphasized conditions for speech intelligibility. To heighten visibility, the designers created superior site angles for 14 camera positions, and to assist the filmmaking, they designed a highly sophisticated lighting system.
