Designed by prominent Beaux-Arts Washington, DC based architects, Wyeth and Sullivan, the Tirana Embassy was one of the first American Legations constructed by the U.S. Government. The preservation design restored the integrity of the building by restoring damaged stucco portions of the façade and patching the terracotta roof. Reconstruction of the verandah and the creation of an Italianate rose garden, dramatically improved the aesthetic of the building and landscape. A new consular services building designed near the perimeter fence incorporates substantial blast protection, while maintaining the residential character of the embassy compound.
