The objective of this project was to complete the third unfinished façade in the Federal Triangle Master Plan. The design solution incorporated the historic concepts of Delano Aldrich's original plan and maintained a correlation between the different façades at Pennsylvania Avenue and 13th Street. By keeping the principal elements of the original design, the designer achieved continuity throughout the tripartite façade. Both the Commission of Fine Arts and the NCPC approved this thoughtful and historically sensitive project.
