New US Embassy Campus

The design concept for the new Beirut Embassy integrates architecture and topography creating a highly sustainable hillside diplomatic village with spectacular views of Beirut and the Mediterranean.  A "castle" site security concept featuring secure perimeters and less restrictive interior courtyards promotes active outdoor spaces at the intersection of the Chancery and housing.  KCCT serves as consulting architect in collaboration with Morphosis Architects with responsibilities for embassy planning, interiors, security design, specifications and signage.  Sustainability goals include LEED Silver BD C for the Chancery, and LEED for Neighborhood Development Certified for the site, reduction of building energy intensity by 30 percent below ASHRAE 90.1-2007, NZW for site irrigation,  with an additional stretch target of Net Zero Energy and LEED Platinum for the Chancery building. 7.5% of energy will be from renewable energy sources - primarily PV canopies shading government vehicles on site. KCCT serves as associate architect in collaboration with Morphosis Architects.
