Private Residence

Located on a sloping, heavily wooded terrain the design fulfills two primary objectives: spatial openness and energy conservation. The glass entry and skylight spine are integrally connected to create a special setting for the cantilevered spiral stair linking three levels. Natural oak, marble, glass and a deep red metal trim provide a rich contrast with the simple white interior walls and exterior stucco. A broad curving deck with red metal railing and exterior spiral stair leading to guest quarters forms an inviting sculptured entry court complimenting the natural contours and vegetation of the site. Energy features include a water source heat pump HVAC system, triple glazed windows and energy efficient light and appliances.
