Grant Memorial Conservation & Union Square Restoration

The Architect of the Capitol entrusted KCCT with the conservation of one of the nation’s most visible monuments at the base of the U.S. Capitol.  The magnificent Grant Memorial, designed by renown sculptor Henry M. Shrady, stands 44-feet high on a marble platform that is more than 250-feet long and 70-feet wide.  The sculpture of Grant is among the largest equestrian statues in the world.

As part of the restoration or Union Square, KCCT conserved the bronze sculptures of the cavalry group, artillery group, four lions around the general, Grant, and all the marble bringing the weathered memorial back to its proud heritage.
