Barrett is a Designer at KCCT. At a young age, Barrett and his father would explore the development and construction of his childhood neighborhood, which sparked his interest in the organization and program of the spaces. “Seeing these homes during the construction process sparked my desire to create something from start to finish while leaving a positive impression on whoever experienced that space,” Barrett mentioned. In his free time, Barrett enjoys playing tennis and hiking in Shenandoah to escape from the city.

What made you want to be a Designer?

It began at a young age with my father and I exploring the development and construction of my childhood neighborhood and being so interested in the organization and program of the spaces that it inspired me to eventually plan my own. The experience of seeing these homes during the construction process sparked my desire to create something from start to finish while leaving a positive impression on whoever experienced that space.

How has KCCT helped you in your career development?

KCCT has furthered that drive for construction in me. The firm has taught me the process on how to make a building habitable and all the details that go into constructing a space the right way.

What do you like to do in your free time? Or hobbies?

I enjoy spending my time playing tennis or hiking in Shenandoah and escaping the city for a while.

What project are you most proud of at KCCT? Why?

Any of our Mount Weather projects. They show that it is possible to have a good design paired with a varying landscape full of challenges.
