Anitha Deshamudre is a senior designer in KCCT's international studio whose areas of expertise include government, higher education, and laboratory projects. Her design approach is to create an environment that is closely integrated with its cultural/climatic context, that explores high-performance strategies to minimize its carbon footprint and embodied energy, and that provides a rich quality of life for its inhabitants. She views merging sustainability strategies with mainstream constructability and lifecycle costs to be a paramount consideration in her field.

A native of India and raised in Charlotte, NC, Anitha has been interested in design since a high school internship, which led to a Master of Architecture from UNC Chapel Hill. She has been published by the American Solar Energy Society and in Cultural Sociology of the Middle East. Currently residing in DC, Anitha is an active participant in Architecture for the Schools for DCPS. In her free time, she enjoys Indian classical dance, travel, and photography.
